Nov. 7 After-Kiddush Talk: Come Learn About a Singing Mitzvah!
Please come to learn about Orchei Zemer (Singing Visitors), a rewarding new initiative of Netivot Shalom’s Gemilut Hasadim committee.
What is Orchei Zemer (Singing Visitors)? Trained volunteers will visit our ill or home-bound members to sing Jewish and Hebrew songs to them. All are welcome to join–your presence is what matters. You likely already know many of the songs and prayers on our “playlist” of about 8 songs, including “Hinei Mah Tov” and the Havdalah niggun.
The mitzvah: Three or four volunteers will make late morning or early afternoon visits for 20-30 minutes, before thanking their host for sharing time with them and asking whether they would like another visit. We will de-brief after our visits and meet monthly to share our learnings and fine-tune our process.
To learn more: We are very excited to share ideas with you on Nov. 7. If you want to learn more about a group doing similar work before the November 7 after-kiddush talk, please consider registering for an on-line presentation by the Shomer Collective on Wednesday, October 21 (9:00 am–12:30 pm) which will touch on aspects of this mitzvah. It should be a great learning opportunity. https://www.shomercollective.org/convening
