Congregation Netivot Shalom has a vibrant, active, and diverse young adults community. Our community includes singles, couples, and parents, college students, graduate students, professionals, hippies, straight folks, gay folks, people exploring Judaism, and more. Most people who come to our events are in their early 20’s through early 40’s, but young adults of all ages, including the young at heart, are warmly welcome! Email ya@netivotshalom.org to be added to the Young Adults’ mailing list and receive updates on our events.

Second Fridays
Kabbalat Shabbat and Community Meal

The Young Adults Havurah’s flagship event is the Second Fridays Kabbalat Shabbat and Community Meal. Please check the calendar for details each month, davening times are earlier in the winter and later in the summer. We usually sing zemirot (shabbat songs) and have a short drash after the meal. In the winter months, please join us on Thursdays to help cook the community meal — this is a fun way to get involved and get to know people in a smaller group setting! In the summer, please follow the shul kashrut policies (available on the website) for your potluck contribution, and RSVP to let us know what you will bring.

While the Young Adults group sponsors and hosts the meal, community members of all ages are warmly welcome at Second Friday Kabbalat Shabbats.

Saturday Morning Services

There is generally a strong young adult presence at Netivot Shalom’s Saturday morning services. We are a friendly group, so please strike up a conversation at the kiddush!

High Holidays

Congregation Netivot Shalom offers free High Holiday tickets for students! If you are an undergrad or graduate student, please take advantage of this and join our community for High Holidays! And please join us anyway if you are not a student. There is always a strong young adult presence at High Holiday services, and we generally host a young adults potluck picnic on the second day of Rosh Hashanah.

Holiday Events and Special Events

We host several special events every year, generally including a Chanukah party, a Purim party, a picnic on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, and shabbat lunches and dinners at community members’ homes. Please get on the mailing list by emailing ya@netivotshalom.org to get info on these events, and please let us know if you would like to host or sponsor an event!

Membership

You need not be a member of Netivot Shalom to participate in Young Adults events – all are warmly welcome! If you are interested in becoming a member, Netivot Shalom’s membership rate for adults under 30 and for students are substantially discounted from the regular adult rates.
